God is Good
I recently shared an encouragement in staff prayer around the goodness of God and how life often moves so quickly that we forget to pause and remember one of the greatest truths of all: God is good. His power is unmatched, His majesty fills the heavens, and His love reaches into every detail of our lives. No matter what we face, His goodness does not change.
When we look at creation, the beauty of the sunrise, the rhythm of the waves, the strength of the mountains, we see glimpses of His nature. The God who created all things also cares deeply for us. He is not distant or indifferent; He is close, compassionate, and faithful. His goodness is written into the world around us and woven into the story of our lives. “The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.” (Psalm 145:9)
Even when life feels heavy, God’s goodness gives us hope. He is a refuge when we are weary and a fortress when we feel weak. His kindness reminds us that we don’t walk through challenges alone. He carries us, strengthens us, and provides for us in ways we often don’t see until we look back.
The goodness of God is not just something we read about in the Bible, it is something we can experience daily. It shows up in answered prayers, in the comfort of His presence, in the peace that stills our hearts, and even in the small blessings we might otherwise overlook. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father.” (James 1:17)
That is why we need to remind ourselves who we serve. It is easy to let fear or discouragement grow larger than our faith, but when we focus on the goodness of God, everything shifts. Worry turns to worship. Anxiety turns to trust. Weakness turns to strength.
Here’s five simple ways that can help us all reflect on God’s goodness today:
- Pause for gratitude – Take five minutes to thank God for three specific ways you’ve seen His goodness recently
- Spend time in His Word – Read Psalm 145 slowly, and let the words remind you of His faithfulness
- Look at creation – Step outside, breathe deeply, and notice one thing in nature that reflects God’s beauty and care
- Speak truth – When worry arises, delcare out loud: “God is good, and He is with me”
- Encourage someone – Share a testimony of God’s goodness with a friend, or send a message reminding them that God’s love never fails
As you reflect on the above steps, your heart will turn from focusing on problems to resting in God’s goodness. God is not only mighty and majestic, He is good. His love is steady, His promises are true, and His mercy never runs out. No matter what we face, we can rest in the truth that God is good, and His goodness will never fail us.
