Just Take a Moment….
“He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’” – Psalms 46:10
‘What a busy season we’ve just had….’ ‘Where has this year gone?…. ‘ ‘Time is just flying by…’
I’m sure you’ve found yourself using at least one of these phrases over the last few weeks – especially as we enter in to a new year – 2026
I’m ashamed to admit that I still have a Facebook account – Facebook encourages me to reminisce every time it pushes a memory of the things I was doing/posting this time 5, 10, and even 15 years ago, and I often find myself remarking: ‘gosh, was that really 15 years ago? – it feels like only yesterday!’
As we look forward to what 2026 brings, and before we launch headlong in to the delivery of the plans that we have put in place; I encourage you to pause: step back; take a breath; and reflect
Are you allowing God to order your steps?
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” – Proverbs 16:9
It can be so easy to shift in to full-on planning, organising and managing mode, as my work colleague often says ‘listing the jobs to be done, and getting on with it’. As leaders, let’s make sure that we surrender all we do to God – and allow Him to establish our steps.
Is Gods purpose driving you forward?
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” – Proverbs 19:21
I’ve been thinking a lot about ‘Motivation’ recently – especially as I enter what is likely to be my final year at work. My coach has been helping me process around the topic of motivation and legacy – helping me think about what I want to achieve this year, (and what I don’t) – especially as I am unlikely to see the final outcome.
I encourage to reflect on what it means to build a legacy, to build the foundations that enable others, future generations, to harvest the fruit.
Know God – Make Him sovereign
“Be still, and know that I am God” this is a powerful scripture. It speaks of the challenge to stop striving, surrender control, and recognise God’s sovereignty.
The world has become increasingly unstable – it’s hard to know who is in charge anymore. As Christians, and leaders – we must never forget that whatever is happening in the physical world, there is a spiritual realm at play.
Let’s each make the choice to engage in this, encourage our people to increasingly see the world through spiritual eyes, and know and acknowledging His ultimate power over nations and the world. This is the beauty of knowing God – a God who is intimately involved in every aspect of our lives, whilst at the same time – Lord over all the earth.
So – take a moment and ‘STOP’ ‘Be still and Know that I and God’
