Use Your GPS!

November 10, 2022 by in Leadership Blog

Today’s leadership blog comes from a season of awakening within the life of One Church.

The journey began at our We Are One Conference with a clear message: “Its time to expand”. The Holy Spirit guiding us to sow our dreams and, full of faith, we have been obedient. This culminated in a powerful night of prayer, worship and prophetic insight and the church is expectant.

So what do you do after you’ve sown your dreams?

There’s this strange feeling we all have after such an intense, emotional, raw and passionate moment. The Holy Spirit has done some internal surgery and hearts have been melted. There is such a strong sense of achievement – the work has been done. And then, before we know it, we are in the car driving home. It can feel quite anticlimactic.

Do not be deceived.

The real work has only just begun.

In the darkness and dampness of the soil, the seed begins to germinate. Unseen yet miraculous, death is giving way to new life! Trust the resurrection process.

In the meantime, we carry on BUT it cannot be BAU (business as usual). Theres a new faith, a fresh expectation and the secret sauce is simple, child-like obedience.

Deuteronomy 28:1 – If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.
Deuteronomy 28:3 – You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.
Deuteronomy 28:12 – The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.

(Note: Obedience brings the rains. Exactly what a germinating dream seed needs!)

Use your GPS for daily directions.

Give – Generosity is our counterculture. In a world of uncertainty, fear and confusion, a generous person stands out like a baked potato in a fruit salad bowl! This is not the time to blend in…let your light shine. Get the salt out of the shaker. Be generous with your words, wealth and ways.

Pray – Pray for someone and with someone. Start the day in the presence of Jesus and pray for family, friends, neighbours, colleagues and strangers. Pray with faith and hope.Make it a habit to pray with one another. It only takes a minute to ask for healing or courage…let’s change the culture, change the atmosphere.

Share – Anticipate divine appointments. Start the day in the word (Bible). This will fuel you for potential exchanges. This could be a moment to pray for someone (see above), bring a gift of healing or prophetic insight or simply encourage a stranger.

All this is the practical outworking of obedience.Whatever He says to you, do it!

To quote some advice from Eli – 1 Samuel 3:9 – ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’

Live big
