Become a Christian

The most important decision of your life

What is a Christian?

Becoming a Christian is simply being a follower of Jesus. A follower of Jesus not only follows the teachings of Jesus as shown in the Bible, but also recognises Jesus as Lord and Saviour in one’s life, turning from your old life without God, and living a new life with Him at the centre.

So how do you become a Christian?

Believe in your heart

Becoming a Christian begins with believing in your heart. The Bible tells us that when we truly believe that Jesus died and rose again, something changes deep within us. It’s more than agreeing with an idea… it’s placing your trust in Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Believing in your heart means opening yourself to God’s love, forgiveness, and new life. It’s the step that moves faith from your head to your whole being. As you believe, God meets you with grace, and you begin a relationship that transforms everything.

Confess with your mouth

Faith is personal, but it’s never meant to stay private. The Bible says, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Speaking out your faith is powerful… it’s a declaration of trust and a step of courage. Confessing Jesus as Lord means recognising Him as the leader of your life. It’s choosing to follow His ways, not just your own. As you speak out your faith, it becomes real, and you step fully into the life God has for you.

Get baptised

Baptism is the outward declaration of an inward change. When you are baptised, you’re declaring publicly that you belong to Jesus. The water symbolises being washed clean, your old life being buried, and rising into new life with Christ. Baptism is not just a ritual; it’s a powerful moment of obedience and faith. It says to your family, friends, and church, “I have decided to follow Jesus.” Through baptism, we step into the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection and live as new creations, ready to walk in freedom, purpose, and joy.
